The Hot Tip On ‘Cool’ Shades

June 1, 2017

To protect your eyesight from bright sunlight, get sunglasses that block ultraviolet radiation whenever you go outside during daylight hours.

You need sunnies that block both UVA and UVB radiation. When shopping for sunglasses, look for a tag or label that says "100 percent protection against both UVA and UVB" or a tag that says "100-percent protection against UV 400." (UV 400 simply covers both the UV-A and-B waves.)

Your sunglasses should also protect against both visible and non-visible light.
