Four ways to beat your diet soda addiction in one week

September 6, 2016

1. If you need energy, try coffee or tea. Both are loaded with antioxidants and you can sweeten them with stevia or honey. Even better? Choose a fruit-flavored tea that provides a natural boost.

2. If your blood sugar gets low, it may be your adrenal glands! Getting irritable, shaky or lightheaded with everyday stressors can lower your blood sugar and you'll eventually lose the hormones to manage it. Try minimizing pressure by skipping the morning news, eating three meals and two snacks daily, spreading protein throughout the day and taking vitamin C, B5 and drinking licorice tea.

3. Those cravings could be the work of chronic nasal congestion, a spastic colon or irritable bowel syndrome! This could be caused by an overgrowth of yeast in your gut, so try a probiotic, seltzer with a splash of cranberry juice and ditch all sugar!

4. Do you hit the soda machine when you're PMS'ing? Hormonal fluctuations can cause everything from mild depression to insomnia, headaches, fatigue and --yes-- sugar cravings! Ladies, ramp up your estrogen with a glass of soy milk or a handful of edamame. Still craving the sweet stuff? Eat an orange, banana, berries or dark chocolate.
