Coast Guard Rescues Man In Homemade Duct-Taped Boat

There are some items you should buy instead of trying to make it yourself - a boat is one of those things.

The U.S. Coast Guard in Juneau, Alaska, said crewmembers rescued a man whose so-called “boat” was sinking.

The “boat” was actually an inflatable raft made out of duct tape! The Coast Guard says the unnamed 32-year-old man was attempting to cross a major shipping channel in his inflatable boat, when he began sinking and started calling for help.

And by calling, we don’t mean on a radio, since his duct-tape boat didn’t have one, we mean physically yelling. The man (and his dog) was rescued unharmed.  No word if the man is facing charges.

A Principal Will Pay Students $100 If They Stay Off Screens For 11 Days This Summer

Diana Smith is the principal at Washington Latin Public Charter School in Washington, D.C.  And she's made an offer to the eighth and ninth graders for this summer:  Anyone who avoids screens for 11 days will get $100.

Every Tuesday this summer, she wants them to avoid EVERY screen.  That means no phones, computers, video games, or TV.  And they need two adult witnesses to certify that they went screen-free.

If they do that for all 11 Tuesdays this summer, she'll give them $100 out of her pocket.  And there are 160 students eligible, so if they ALL do it, she'll be out $16,000, but she's betting that no more than 50 of them even try.

She says she's doing it because, quote, "I have become increasingly uncomfortable with the ubiquity of the phones in their lives.  I don't like when teachers bribe their students, but I do think they need help with this particular relationship."

Five Female Relatives Get Into a Waffle House Brawl at 2:45 in the Morning

Five female relatives were at a Waffle House in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at 2:45 A.M. on Sunday, and clearly SOMETHING finally happened that made them erupt because the five of them got into a serious BRAWL.

Someone else in the Waffle House filmed a lot of it, and you can see the women throwing wild punches, pulling hair, and throwing stuff at each other off the tables.  At one point, you hear one of them yell, quote, "Get off my mama!"

We have 56-year-old Deborah Shivers, 37-year-old Tyneisha Shivers, 37-year-old Tonisha Shivers, 31-year-old Latonia Shivers, and 25-year-old Mercedes Shivers.

All of them were arrested for disorderly conduct.
