Walk for the Animals

November 2, 2018

Hello it's Karen Perrin and it's time to Walk for the Animals!

Each and every week on Wet Nose Wednesday on 104.5 The River, Ron and I are excited to introduce you to a special pup from the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County who is looking for a forever home. But even if you are not in a place where you can adopt a pet, you can still support the work of the Humane Society. This Saturday, 11/3/18 it’s the Walk for the Animals! It is a free, family-friendly event open to the public, but of course you are encouraged to raise funds! You can sign up, form a team and invite your friends and family (and yes you can include your best animal friends) for the walk through Shelby Farms then stick around for a fun, animal loving day full of music, kid zone, food trucks, vendors and more.

If you are not sure how the Humane Society operates, let me let them explain! With permission, I pulled the following excerpt from the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby county website (thanks Kristin)! --------------------------------------

“Why support your local Humane Society?
-No animal dies in our care based on length of stay or time to heal.
We need to be ready at a moment's notice when an animal needs us.
-We help the worst cases in the Memphis community...animals suffering from severe neglect or abuse.
-Our funding is dependent on the generosity of our donors.
-Since 1933, we have been saving animals. For just as long, people like you have been there to help.

Together, we can give hurt and abused animals a second chance at life...one animal at a time, one step at a time.”

Here’s a link to the event on Facebook if you’d like to find out more!

And again, don’t forget Wet Nose Wednesday (on Wednesdays of course) at 8:40am with Ron and Karen and on 104.5 The River!

Have a great weekend!
